My love affair with Tolkien's work started when I was a young boy watching the animated "Hobbit" movie and has continued to this day. While my wife was pregnant with our first child (who is now 24!), I read the LOTR trilogy to her and she fell in love too. Though, admittedly, I'm the bigger nerd.
We also enjoyed B&B Inns from the first time we stayed at the Amber House in Sacramento to our road trip down the Oregon coast. As we returned from the coast, we drove through a beautiful valley and dreamed of building a village of hobbit holes.
The Homes
Three sun-tracking decks, a fireplace for cool desert nights, and red rocks framed from nearly every window.
A private remodeled casita with a pergola deck and a fire-table patio made for slow, unhurried evenings.
An expansive deck over Jack's Canyon, a quiet western hillside, and some of the darkest, starriest skies in the Village.

Bell Rock is the Village of Oak Creek's landmark — a bell-shaped butte glowing copper at sunrise and sunset. The Bell Rock Pathway and Courthouse Butte Loop offer 4+ miles of gentle, view-saturated trail, with plenty of spurs for scramblers. From Quail Hollow you can be on the trail in under five minutes.

Jack's Canyon is the quieter side of Sedona hiking: a peaceful canyon trail that climbs gradually toward Wilson Mountain views without the crowds of the famous trailheads. It starts essentially in Quail Hollow's backyard, which makes it the perfect sunrise or golden-hour walk.

Cathedral Rock is short (about 1.2 miles round trip) but memorably steep — a hands-and-feet scramble to a saddle with one of the Southwest's great views. Go at sunrise to beat the heat and the crowds, then reward yourself with breakfast back in the Village.

SR 179 threads between Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte, and Cathedral Rock on its way into Sedona proper. Every pullout is a postcard; sunset turns the whole corridor crimson. It begins right at the Village of Oak Creek — your daily commute to dinner is a scenic byway.

Rising directly out of a red rock spur, the Chapel of the Holy Cross is one of Sedona's most striking pieces of architecture — and one of its best easy viewpoints. Visit late afternoon when the rocks glow and the crowds thin.

Sedona was among the world's first International Dark Sky Communities, and the Village of Oak Creek's low lights make it the best seat in the house. On clear nights the Milky Way is visible from our decks; bring a blanket, kill the lights, and look up.

Golf with a red rock backdrop: Oakcreek Country Club's 18 holes were designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr., and sit just minutes from Quail Hollow. The nearby Sedona Golf Resort adds a second championship option.

Modeled after a traditional Mexican village, Tlaquepaque is Sedona's favorite afternoon: galleries and studios, fountain courtyards, and some of the area's best restaurants. Fifteen minutes up the byway from the Village.

The Village of Oak Creek keeps it walkable: morning coffee and bakeries, casual tacos and pizza, and a handful of genuinely good dinner rooms. Ask us for the current favorites — we live here, and we keep the list fresh.

Quiet, private, and minutes from the trails. The most seamless stay we've had in Sedona, hands down.
Check-in was effortless and the deck at sunset is something we'll remember for a long time. Truly a cut above.
The views are unreal and the home was spotless. Sandi and Bill thought of everything — we already want to come back.
